Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Turing Opera Workshop LLC, the owner and developer of Cantai ("Turing Opera Workshop," "we," "us," or "our"). They cover our website, your account, your purchases, and the Cantai plugins, Cantai for DAWs, the Cantai Engine and our online rendering (together, the "Services"). By creating an account, buying a plan, or installing or using Cantai, you accept them.

The software you install is also covered by the End User License Agreement, and what we do with your data is described in the Privacy Policy. If you use Cantai on behalf of a company or school, you accept these terms for it.

Your account

One person — An account belongs to one person. Keep your sign-in details and your account token (the license key in your Profile) to yourself: anyone who has the token can activate Cantai with your license.
Accurate details — Give us a real email address. We use it for your license, your purchases and support.
Age — You must be at least 13, or older if your country requires it. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must accept these terms for you.

Plans & payment

Free trial — Before you buy, Cantai renders up to the first 30 seconds of a score.
Subscriptions — Renew automatically every billing period until you cancel. Cancel any time from your Profile; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
Lifetime licenses — Cover the current major version of the product you bought (for example, Cantai 3.x) for as long as that version is supported, with its updates, voices and languages. A new major version may be offered as a paid upgrade.
Educational plans — Are for the students and teachers we approve, for their study and teaching.
Prices — Are shown before you pay, in US dollars, plus any tax your country charges. If a subscription's price changes, we tell you before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it applies.
Payments — Are processed by Stripe. Cantai for MuseScore Studio is sold and billed by Muse Group through MuseHub, under their terms.

Refunds

If Cantai doesn't work on your computer, or isn't what you expected, write to us within 14 days of your purchase and we'll look at it with you; that can include a refund. A refund ends the license it paid for. Purchases made through MuseHub are refunded by Muse Group. Nothing here limits a refund or cancellation right that the law where you live gives you.

Acceptable use

You may not:

Use the Cantai Engine, our online rendering or our servers from any software other than Cantai's own apps: the Cantai plugin in Dorico, Sibelius and capella, Cantai for DAWs, and Cantai in MuseScore Studio. That includes your own scripts and programs, and other companies' apps.
Offer rendering with Cantai to other people as a service, or let anyone render with your license.
Get around the license, the free-trial limit, usage limits or any other protection of the Services.
Copy, extract or reuse Cantai's voice models or voices, or use what Cantai sings to train or build another voice model.
Present what Cantai sings as a performance by one of the singers behind our voices, or use their names in a way that suggests they endorse your work.
Overload, scrape or attack the Services, or use them for anything unlawful.

Building something with Cantai? If you'd like Cantai inside your own app or service, talk to us through the Partners page. Integrations are only possible under a separate written agreement.

Your music

Your scores, lyrics and other material stay yours. You let us process them only to render your audio and run the Services, and our online servers delete them within 24 hours, as the Privacy Policy describes. We never use them to train our voice models. You confirm that you have the right to use what you send to Cantai.

What Cantai sings

You can use the audio Cantai renders for you in your own projects, including commercial ones such as recordings, videos and performances that are sold or distributed, as long as you hold the rights to the music and the words or they're in the public domain. Your license to use that audio continues after your plan ends.

Our rights

Cantai, its software, voice models, voices, names and logos belong to Turing Opera Workshop and to the singers and partners who license them to us. Your plan gives you the right to use the Services as these terms and the End User License Agreement describe; nothing else is transferred to you. If you send us feedback, we may use it freely.

Other companies' apps

Cantai works inside notation and audio software made by other companies, such as Dorico, Sibelius, MuseScore Studio, capella and the DAWs that Cantai for DAWs supports. Those apps, and how they change, are their makers' responsibility and come with their own terms.

Suspension & ending

You — Can stop using Cantai and delete your account at any time.
Us — We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, for example by sharing a license or using the Engine from other software. Where we reasonably can, we tell you first and give you a chance to fix it. A license ended for a breach is not refunded.
Older versions — To keep Cantai secure and working, an old version may stop rendering and ask you to update. Updates are free for the versions your plan covers.

Warranty & liability

We work hard to keep Cantai reliable, but the Services are provided "as is" and "as available": we don't promise they'll be uninterrupted or free of errors, or that every rendering will be what you expected. To the extent the law allows, Turing Opera Workshop is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost work, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Some places don't allow these limits; where they don't, they apply only as far as the law permits, and your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, USA, and disputes go to the courts of Maine. If you're a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protections of the law where you live and can also bring a claim in your local courts.

Changes

We may update these terms as Cantai changes. When a change matters, we'll tell you by email or in Cantai at least 30 days before it applies; if you keep using Cantai after that, the new terms apply. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
