Cantai renders on your own computer. This is what it needs, and what happens when a computer doesn't qualify.

For notation apps

macOS
Apple Silicon (M1 or later), macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Intel Macs with macOS 13.4 Ventura or later use their own installer and render on the CPU, slower than Apple Silicon; at least 4 CPU cores recommended.
Windows
Windows 10 (20H2) or later on an x86-64 processor. Windows on ARM (Snapdragon) can't render locally.
Memory
8 GB of RAM minimum, 16 GB recommended for large scores.
Disk
About 4 GB free.
Internet
Needed to validate your license, even when rendering locally.
Apps
Dorico 6.2.20 or later · Sibelius 2026.6 or later · MuseScore Studio 4.6.4 or later, with MuseHub running.
If your computer doesn't qualify

What happens then

Dorico and Sibelius render only on your computer. There is no online fallback, so try the free trial first: it is the full plugin.

MuseScore Studio falls back to online rendering on Cantai's servers: 180 minutes of new audio a week, reset every Monday at 00:00 UTC. Replaying audio you already rendered is free.

Expected to match Cantai for notation apps, above: it runs the same voices on the same engine.
Plugin
AU and VST3 at launch; AAX for Pro Tools as a free update.
Final list
Published with the first version. If your computer can't run it, your preorder is fully refundable any time before release.
